I realised after posting my last blog that I hadn't reported on the funds raised from my demonstration for the Starr Trust. I'm pleased to announce it raised £1,164!! What a fantastic evening we had and I'm so happy because I know the Trust will use the funds wisely in order to help children smile!
I arrived home from Norway a few days ago. I was working out there with Darren Brittain - an absolutely amazing medium. If you've not seen him work do check his website (on my links page) - you won't be disappointed.
We had a full-on few days there. Two demonstrations, a day workshop and umpteen sittings but we both thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.
Norway is such a beautiful country and the people are so friendly, it's a lovely place both to visit and to work and the views are breathtaking.
I will be back in Bergen in November with fellow medium Sue Smith and we always have a great time working for Spirit Event Norway. The group was set up by Geir Svoren and Grethe Annete Dahle as a means of enlightening people who are interested in spiritualism by holding regular meetings, demonstrations and workshops. They both have full time jobs too, yet they still give their all to Spirit Event and deserve congratulations on achieving so much in such a short space of time.
My diary is as busy as ever. Next week is full of private sittings and a demonstration for the Healing Light in Shoreham on Friday 14th at 7.30pm.
In July I'm off to Eire to give a demonstration alongside Sharon Fitzmaurice, Declan Flynn and Eamon Seixx. The tickets are already sold out for this event so, who knows, if demand is great enough, I might be taking to the air to Eire once more!

My word, how the time flies!
It seems only a short while ago that I was writing my last blog and now, here we are, in May 2013!
Needless to say, I haven't been at all lazy. My work has taken me all over the place both here and overseas. In fact, I'm getting so many air miles under my belt I think if I ever win the Lottery I shall buy a private jet.
I do love everything I do, from demonstrations to Church services, to teaching at various seminars but, what touches me the most, is the feedback I get from people.
Recently, I had a phone call from a lady in another part of the country. She left a message on my answerphone because, as usual, I was working. When I rang her back she said she was coming down to Sussex to visit her daughter and wondered if I could see her the following week.
My diary is so busy I have people booked up months in advance and, try as I might, I couldn't find anywhere to fit her in. But, as I was searching for an appointment slot, I became aware of a man standing beside me.
I told her, "I have your husband here....." She was overjoyed as I relayed some of the information he gave me. I had to cut the conversation short as I had a client arriving shortly but I asked her to Skype me and we would finish our conversation.
Later that day we spoke via Skype and her husband was a wonderful communicator, giving the minutest details about their life together. I was so pleased.
She asked how much she owed me and said she would send a cheque in the post but, the emotion of the moment was so raw and so painful it really touched me. I told her it was a gift from me and from Spirit and it meant the world to me that I had helped them both, albeit in a small way.
A few days later I received a beautiful card from her saying "Dear Marlene, Thank you so much for what you did for me. It was very kind of you. I now feel very happy, you have made such a difference!"
You can't put a price on that, can you?
I also had a lovely surprise when, after my annual demonstration for The Starr Trust, I was approached by a lady who turned out to be the very same lady I had spoken to via Skype! It was lovely to meet her in person and also to know she had contributed to a charity which is very dear to me, by buying a ticket! Spirit does, indeed, work in mysterious ways!
Whilst we're on the subject of money, mediums are often accused of being money-grabbing charlatans and, if I had my way, I wouldn't charge at all. Such is life though and I still have bills to pay. I also attend training seminars for myself, in order to be stretched and to learn even more as I believe you never know everything. Some of these courses cost enormous amounts of money and this is where a good percentage of the money I earn is spent.
There are often times, though, where I am particularly touched by a reading or a sitter's own energy. Sometimes Spirit will tell me that person can't really afford the sitting, sometimes I just 'know' and it's times like these where I tell them their sitting is a gift from Spirit.
I never charge bereaved parents either. As a mum myself I can't imagine what they must be going through and their tears of joy are payment enough, as is knowing that I have been able to bring them peace of mind.
I know I will never be able to make anyone 100% better emotionally because even though I can give them proof their loved one is close by, they will still miss their physical presence. I do know, though, that they leave here a little calmer and happy in the knowledge their child/mother/father/sister/brother etc is little more than a whisper away.

A busy few months!
I can't believe how quickly the past few months have flown, though I have been undeniably busy and rather lax in keeping my blog up to date!
In May, amongst other things, I demonstrated at The Lantern of Light in Burgess Hill - if you've never been there do try and visit, it has the most wonderful energy and you're always ensured of a warm welcome.
On the 18th May, I did my annual fund-raising demonstration at Hove County Cricket ground for The Starr Trust, where we raised nearly £1,000 for their worthwhile children's charities. The event was sold out weeks in advance and it was heartwarming to see so many people turn out in support of this wonderful charity!
The rest of the month was filled with various demonstrations, private sittings and a few private demonstrations.
In June I was back demonstrating for The Healing Light. This is one of my all time favourite places as it was where I first began my development many MANY years ago!
On the 13th June I was invited to give a Radio Interview for Edinburgh's Castle FM and thoroughly enjoyed myself. I've been invited back at a later date so will keep you updated on my 'Where to see Marlene' page.
The following day I was back at Seafordspirit, who now have their own Church and a beautiful place it is too. I love working there!
At the end of June I travelled back to Switzerland to teach trance at a weekend seminar with Eamonn Downey. Eamonn is an amazing tutor and medium, one of the country's finest so it was both a pleasure and a privilege to be invited to work with him again for the Feng Shui Schule. I shall be back there with Eamonn in November. www.feng-shui-schule.ch
July was filled with various private functions and sittings and August kicked off with a weekend seminar for Kilmarnock Spiritualist Church, where I worked alongside Darren Brittain. We both agreed we learned just as much from our students as they did from us and the weekend was filled with lots of hard work but lots of fun and laughter too and many new friendships were formed amongst the people who had travelled, not just within Scotland, but from further afield too! The whole experience was very uplifting and we both came home tired but more than happy over our successful weekend!
The coming months are brimful with events but I will do my best to keep you updated, hopefully on a more regular basis than of late!

Beautiful Bergen
Last Monday saw me arrving home from a fantastic week in Bergen working with Sue Smith for Spirit Event Norway!
Our week kicked off with a well-attended demonstration for the Spirit Union in Bergen (soon to be renamed!) The rest of the week followed, filled to the brim with private sittings, another demonstration, a ghost hunt and Sue and I both ran individual workshops at the Rica Hotel, also in Bergen.
All in all we had a fabulous week and we're soon to return in September for more of the same.
Geir Svoren and Grethe Dahle, co-founders of Spirit Event are also hoping to run a seminar next year so, if you fancy a weekend in the beautiful surroundings that Norway has to offer AND a place where you can learn how to develop your own gifts and also have fun, please keep an eye on my website or via www.spiritevent.no for details.

Sunny Scotland!
Well! I'm just back from a wonderful time working for Kilmarnock Spiritualist Church up in Scotland. What a lovely church it is! If any of you have the chance to go or to work there, please take the opportunity as you'll be pleasantly surprised by the welcome you receive. It's one of the loveliest churches I've ever had the privilege to serve!
Saturday's trance workshop was well-received by my willing students and it was refreshing to see them encouraging each other and embracing every task I set them with such enthusiasm!
Sunday morning I gave four private sittings then had the Divine Service in the evening which I thoroughly enjoyed as the energy in the church was electric!
On Monday I gave four more private sittings then gave a demonstration in the evening. Again the atmosphere and the love generated by the congregation was amazing!
I can't wait to be back there in August when I shall be tutoring with Darren Brittain for their annual seminar.

Residential weekend in Worthing
I'm really looking forward to The Healing Light's first rresidential seminar Friday 24th to Sunday 26th February 2012 and hope to see some of you there!
Marlene is delighted to announce that she has been invited to be a tutor at the Healing Light Spiritual Centres weekend seminar at the Windsor Hotel Worthing. The amazing Darren Brittain and the lovely Janet Birdseye will be fellow tutors and The Healing Lights Cherry O`Sullivan and Cindy Hatchard are organisers. All three tutors have many years of experience in bringing out the best in their students, so this is likely to be a lively and inspirational seminar.
Included in the seminar package are;
· Programme of classes with our tutors open to all levels
· Meals; Breakfast, buffet lunch, evening meal and light refreshments during breaks.
· Same price bedrooms for our seminar, all of which are double sized air-conditioned and en-suite with access to the hotels complimentary Wifi network. Home from Switzerland
I'm just back from a weekend seminar in Wilen, Switzerland with the amazing Eamonn Downey, who is just as popular and respected in Switzerland as he is here, in the UK. It has been such a privilege for me to work with him!
We were working for the Feng Shui Schule, which is run by Wendelin and Rita Niedberger, and we have already been asked to return there in June and November 2012.
The subject for the weekend was Trance and Trance Healing and proved to be very popular with the students who are all keen to come back to our future seminars. It proved to be a wonderful experience and I can't wait to be back there!
